It's the girls first Birthday today!
For a while we knew that Lotte the cat was expecting & her owners had promised us a kitten. Then, in the evening of that May 15, we got a call that would change our lives forever. She was in labor, the cat was giving birth. Two black and white kittens had been born & then Charlotte our calico girl came into the world. She would be the middle child as two more white cats followed. We laughed, we danced in the livingroom (not really but I felt like doing so) We were excited, we really REALLY wanted to see them.
Lotte's owners send us a few pictures and we stared in silence and awe at the mobile phone. Above a family photo, our girls at their mom's side. Doesn't Chloë look a lot like her mom? Not just her fur but the color of her eyes and the shape of her face.
The next day we could come and see the 5 kittens. Have you ever seen or held a one day old kitten? There is nothing like it. Eyes closed, ears flat, sooo tiny they could easily fit into the palm of your hand. Making squeaky noises, wobbling, tail resembling a scrap of yarn. One word: adorable !!!
The girls sleep a lot and I have many sleeping beauty pictures. So, like I said, today we are celebrating their very first Birthday. Let's hope that there will be many more & that we shall all get together for them and have a fabulous time.
C&C are difficult eaters, we have tried all sorts of special cat treats and little bits of chicken or fish. But they like their everyday food best and cannot/will not, be treated for this special occasion. What a shame, oh well we'll have a biscuit with our tea in their honor.
Yesterday the mail brought a wonderful surprise. A Birthday card for Charlotte and Chloë from our good friends J&H. It is a gorgeous glittery card with hearts & J had decorated the enveloppe with little strawberries, super cute. Thank you so much for this kind gesture!
I'll add another fun picture of the birthday girls. Don't they look happy? I think it looks as if they are smiling. They just shared a joke and are laughing together.
I wonder what was so funny... I'll leave you for now, time for tea & toasting their good health.
Do you like cats? Or celebrate your pets birthday? Don't be shy, tell me all about the party hats, sing songs and what not! ;)
